J&T: The Gift That Keeps on Giving

5 Sep

I have been on a blogging hiatus as some of you (okay, all of you) noticed. I’ve been busy with all sorts of life things, and had to take a step away to take care of business. I still owe you a post on everything that has been going on with me, but I had to come back today because it’s a special occasion. No, I’m not announcing that I’m pregnant with David Hasselhoff’s baby, or that scientists have decided to study a genetic mutation I have which causes my extreme awesomeness. Today is the birthday of my matey from another lady, Sara from Laments and Lullabies!

Some of you may not know this, but Sara and I go way back. Not like we-shared-a-womb-and-she-hogged-all-of-the-good-fluid kind of way back, but the kind that has allowed us to share many fun experiences together. How does one honor a friend like this on her birthday? I was going to write a long post about how beautiful and talented and funny and cool she is, but isn’t that common knowledge? Instead, I’ve decided to invite all of you to take a look back at some of my favorite moments with her.

Halloween 2009. She didn’t have a sidecar so she made me ride on the roof of her Smart car.

This was from the year she convinced me it was a good idea to evade taxes. It’s not.

Us at a boxing class. It was all fun and games until she accused me of hitting like a girl. I hit like a girl MY ASS.

One one of our many bike excursions. For some odd reason she kept feeding me Reese’s Pieces that day…

This was our first (and last) cruise together. Talk about a bad time.

This was the day I showed her my fresh breakdancing skills.

Our skydiving excursion. Nothing says “besties” quite like having your boobs pressed against your friend’s back at 13,000 feet in the air.

This is when we met the Canadian national treasure, Justin Bieber. Apparently, Canadian law dictates that all of its citizens worship him.

This was the day she made me drive her all over the place so that we could deliver a ring to her friend Mordor.

I hope you guys enjoyed taking a stroll down memory lane with me. If you want to help her celebrate this special day, please find and follow her on all corners of the interwebz:

Happy birthday, Sara! May this one be the best yet.

Ha ha! Love the post and the pics. You guys obviously go way back. Can I offer her birthday wishes a little late? She must be awesome if she’s a friend of yours.

  3. Smaktakula 09/10/2012 at 11:29 am #

I got here late. I already wished Sara a happy birthday, but it would be rude not to do so again. Happy birthday!

Also, it seems like the most critical thing in this post is what you’re NOT saying. Why WON’T you announce that you’re carrying Hasselhoff’s love-child? A Hasseltonic might just be the new Christ-Child.

    • Dani Heart 09/10/2012 at 11:44 am #

LOL love the hasseltonic love child. 🙂

    • Jen and Tonic 09/13/2012 at 10:59 am #

My god. Why haven’t I had a child with David Hasselhoff yet? The world NEEDS this.

You are SUCH a sweetheart, J&T. Just sayin’.

Oh, isn’t it wonderful when we can all come together to celebrate the life of such a fantastic lady, and it didn’t take her dying for it to happen? This is the way it ought to be.

    • Jen and Tonic 09/13/2012 at 10:58 am #

I love that! Yes it IS nice to celebrate someone while they’re still here to appreciate the love.

  7. calahan 09/05/2012 at 12:04 pm #

If there hadn’t been photographic proof of your seemingly endless adventures, I simply wouldn’t have believe them. Now I’m just super jealous!

    • Jen and Tonic 09/13/2012 at 10:57 am #

One day I’ll will take you on adventures you could never have imagined.

      • calahan 09/13/2012 at 11:42 am #

        I’m game.

  8. PAZ 09/05/2012 at 10:48 am #

Jen and TOnIIIIIC = mutated awesomeness! And let me just say the Gandalf beard is lovely on you. Wish I could grow a beard like that.

    • Jen and Tonic 09/13/2012 at 10:57 am #

I do look quite good with a beard, don’t I? It has taken quite some time, but I’m finally getting men to find female facial hair sexy.

Welcome back Jen! So happy to get some tonic today. This made my morning receiving the email notification that this was posted. YAY!!

Happy Birthday, Sara – Virgos RULE!!!!!!!

      • saradraws 09/05/2012 at 9:49 am #

Virgo do rule, because we are wise, kind, and fair. Also very very sexy. Thanks Katy!

      • Jen and Tonic 09/13/2012 at 10:54 am #

Do you know that Virgos and Sagittarius are a good love match? *winks*

  11. TJLubrano 09/05/2012 at 8:49 am #

Haha! This was so awesome!! You two look like transforming superheroes. A new identity for every situation! Have to say Jen, you do look magically glowing as Gandalf…and that stare…it’s like you’re hypnotizing people…

Welcome back Ms. J&T & HAPPY BIRTHDAY Sara! Have lots of fun today!

    • Jen and Tonic 09/13/2012 at 10:52 am #

My stare is legendary. I think I look really badass and intimidating, but others have told me I look creepy. “Serial killer-ish” is the term people have used.

      • TJLubrano 09/13/2012 at 1:25 pm #

I think you should be proud of the serial killer stare!! I also love your Scary-Kawaii one. That one is definitely a stare that many can’t pull off.

I used to scare Cilla with a stare…I still do. I also chase her up the stairs…just for fun. And this I still do as well. I’m quite normal as a sister.

  12. Dani Heart 09/05/2012 at 8:47 am #

awww. How sweet and what good fun you two had together. 🙂 It’s so good to see a post from you Jen. I really like the bike riding one. LOL

    • Jen and Tonic 09/13/2012 at 10:49 am #

We had such fun on our bike riding day! She pedals like a maniac. She kept saying she wanted to go into space.

  13. The Waiting 09/05/2012 at 7:37 am #

Hahahaha! Happy birthday to Sara and welcome back Jen! I was getting thirsty for some Jen and Tonics. OMG I really just made that pun. OMG.

    • Jen and Tonic 09/13/2012 at 10:45 am #

Puns are DEFINITELY allowed on this blog. I’m the type of person who shops at places because they have a funny name. Like the pet store “You’re Pawesome!” I don’t even have a pet.

  14. saradraws 09/05/2012 at 6:20 am #

Oh we had fun, didn’t we? Those were the days, my friend. Back when we were footloose and fancy free and wore beards and didn’t give a damn. And that time in prison where we made matching shanks? And the topless boxing. I can’t believe you remembered the topless boxing!! We were really cut for 6 year old girls. Every time the steel plate in my jaw sets the metal detectors off, I smile.
You, my beautiful, talented, cool, Awesomer than gossamer, pal-o-mine, take the gluten free cake.
My love for you grows every post.

    • Jen and Tonic 09/13/2012 at 10:43 am #

We had the MOST fun. How could we not? We’re fun and beautiful and cool and beautiful and silly and beautiful and funny and beautiful. We’re the total package(s)!

You’re my Canadian girlfriend. I’ve just decided.

      • saradraws 09/13/2012 at 10:49 am #

        You Like my package?
I love long distance relationships. I get to see myself naked on Skype. Never leave me.

        • Jen and Tonic 09/13/2012 at 10:50 am #

I love long distance relationships too! I can get on camera and look presentable from the waist up, and then let everything from the waist down go to hell. Ideal, really.

          • saradraws 09/13/2012 at 10:53 am #

            Hellooooooo leg sweaters.

  15. El Guapo 09/05/2012 at 5:55 am #

Mostly I’m concerned about the fluctuations in your relative heights, especially in the fourth and last pics, but other than that,

(and good to see you too, Jen.)

    • saradraws 09/05/2012 at 9:47 am #

Two words, El Guapo: High heels.
      Thank you (winky face)

    • Jen and Tonic 09/13/2012 at 10:42 am #

The fourth pic can only be explained by the lower body transplant I received last summer.

  16. speaker7 09/05/2012 at 4:43 am #

OMG! You met the Biebs? I am so jelly like helly. Do I sound 13? I’m trying so hard.

    • Jen and Tonic 09/13/2012 at 10:41 am #

I think I met the biebs. Not sure. I could only see the lower half of his face.

  17. John the Aussie 09/05/2012 at 3:40 am #

    Happy birthday to Sara again!

    • Jen and Tonic 09/13/2012 at 10:40 am #
