I know you all came here today to read one of my great American masterpieces *pauses and waits until the laughter dies down* but today I’m putting up a post of a different kind. Since I began writing, I’ve been met with kindhearted individuals who have supported my pursuit to share with the world what’s happening in my twisted mind. People have posted my articles on Facebook, forwarded them to coworkers for a midday giggle, and have even tweeted them to their (Twitter) audiences.
Most recently, I was presented with a “Versatile Blogger” award from Lisa over at Main Street Musings. Her blog, which she describes as a reflection on life in the suburbs–the good, the bad, and the ugly, is worth a read. It’s always flattering to receive a nod from someone whose work you respect. Please pop over to her site and show her some love!
Now comes my favorite part: because I’ve chosen to accept the award, I get to bestow it on other bloggers whose sites make me so happy I pee myself a little. I have a wide variety of tastes when it comes to what I peruse on the internet: humor, movies, poetry, politics, online tickers counting down the days until Lindsay Lohan’s “meth teeth” fall out of her head. Despite these blogs have varying themes, they do share one commonality- quality content.
Having said that, in no particular order….
It’s Always Friday There is no better way to describe this blog other than to say it is written beautifully. There is a mix of poetry, short stories, humor, and pieces which leave you angry because there’s not more to read. Really, there is something for everyone on this blog.
Askcherlock Have you always wanted to care more about politics and current events? Not sure where to start? Do you find the subject matter heavy and overwhelming? THIS is the place you need to go. All of the pieces on this site are written in a straightforward, easily digestible manner so that even those who have a hard time keeping up (ME, ME!) have a chance at learning a thing or two.
3 Things Three Things is a blog which boils down, and dissects, the”Top 3″ on different topics each week. The author doesn’t just cut to the core of everyday stupidity, he downright bitch slaps it. If you love humor with an edge, you’ll really enjoy this blog.
A Look in a Creative Mind If you combined kittens, rainbows, unicorns, cupcakes and anything else that screams, “HAPPINESS!” this is what you’d get. TJ’s blog gives a peek in to her life as an illustrator/creative evil genius. Her drawings are whimsical, and have a youthful quality that I absolutely adore.
Tired of Previews Do you hate it when you read or watch previews, and they give away the best parts of the movies? So does the author of this blog. This is why her her write-ups will only give you just enough information on a film to decide whether or not it’s something you want to see it. I think of this site as my own personal movie screening service.
Hurricane Dean Are you in to reading about politics from a liberal point of view? If so, you’ll love this blog. If this guy was any more left, he’d be in the ocean! One of the things I’ve always liked about the author is that he has a definitive point of view, and has obviously done his research. I may not always agree with his stance, but I like that he’s always up for a good discussion.
Life and Payback’s a Bitch This blog is similar to It’s Always Friday in that the author posts about a number of different things- current events, life reflections, interviews. He’s got a distinctive style of writing, a saltiness, which I really like. Also, how can you not like someone who’s quote on their blog is, “If you’re in a situation you want to leave but just can’t seem to do it and don’t know why, remember- even hell will give you an incentive not to reach for heaven.”
Desvario Not only is the author of this blog an extremely talented writer, but he’s one of the nicest people I’ve met since I began writing. His blog is a reader’s (and writer’s) playground. He talks a bit about his own books, he talks a bit about other people’s books, and there are links to different book-related websites.
When you have some time, please do check out the blogs listed above. Each has a unique voice, and I promise you will not be disappointed!
Thanks again to Lisa for nominating me for this award, and a huge thank you to my loyal readers who keep me motivated each week to put my insanity into words.
Congrats!
Thanks!
I personally think that this is a great idea and one of the best ways to let others know of the best Bloggers out there. Kudos darling!
We bloggers must stick together 🙂
I don’t know what you’re talking about. I don’t leave anyone wanting more, I just write till I run out of words… and you forgot to mention the deft use of the dot.dot.dot that makes running out of words look all artsy and deeply emotive…
Oh, and one more thing. You my dear, are a true friend. Thank you for all of your very kind words.

Thanks for the kind words, Jen. I’m eager to check out your blog recommendations!
Thank YOU!
Ah Jen, if anyone deserves this award and many more, it is you. Your Sips of Jen and Tonic make our days brighter, and the friends who almost pee together from laughter, stay together!
Thanks so much for including me among these stellar writers. I adore each one of them. I have said it before, but what’s a little redundancy among friends? Jen, you are simply the best!
I wanted to come up with something snappy, but all I could think of was, “Friends that laugh together get skin graphs together.”
Thank you for being such a wonderful friend, and inspiring me to keep plugging along despite the nonsense going on lately.
Jen:
Congrats on the Award – absolutely deserved. Also, thank you for the sweet things you said about my blog. I am so happy that you come to me to find your next movie. Always happy to help you select your next film. THANK YOU!!
And I will say it again – you write like most people think but don’t have the balls to say it out loud. I am glad you do and we all benefit from it 🙂

*Grabs Balls* I’M DOING IT FOR THE CHILDREN!!!!!!!!
Thank YOU for helping me become a more regular movie watcher.
Now TJ has made me feel bad for just saying “thanks for the mention”. I am honoured to be named amongst this talented group of writers and artists, many thanks for the great blog description Jen.
Mwhuahahaha…*coughs* ^_^
That TJ, always causing trouble…
Who? Me? Nuh uh!
The “T” is TJ stands for troublemaker.
Thanks for the mention. These are all great blogs Jen with fantastic writers (including your own) who all have their own unique voice. All of these writers were available in one place, you know the place, it’s a shame this is no longer the case. Maybe things will change in the future but until then the blogs are well worth visiting. Onwards and upwards. Well done on the award, definitely much deserved.
It really is too bad, but you know, with the way it was going we’re all better off. There’s too much creativity energy which would just go to pot if we were all still there. Thanks for “making the move” over to this blog with me.
Woohoo! Congrats with the Award! You definitely deserve it!!
And a big thank you for listing me amongst all those other brilliant writers with such a lovely description. I am really honored!
‘Creative evil genius’…I like that haha. *plots another masterplan*
You need to get your cackle down: MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
*makes notes*
I see. I SEE! MHWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHaa….how about that?
Excellent!
