The Blogger Summit is really beginning to come together. You have all been so helpful in responding to the questions posed to you so far, and for that I thank you. I prefer not to strong-arm people, but I’m really good at it when necessary.
Becca and I last left with you options regarding location for the upcoming Blogger Summit. I must admit, I was a bit surprised by the results. We have a lot of people on the East and West Coasts so I thought for sure the winning location would be somewhere in those areas. Always keeping me on my toes, you collectively voted for Houston, TX.
Somewhere along the way, someone suggested that Austin may be a better location. Becca and I talked about it, and agreed hosting it in Houston’s sexier sister city would be ideal. Get excited Hooked on Tonics, it looks like Austin, TX will be the location of the very first Blogger Summit!
I’m very excited as Austin has a slew of cool things to do and see. I never thought I’d say this, but I’m looking forward to going to Texas! Before we pop champagne bottles, there’s one big detail still left to decide, and that’s of the date for this legendary event.
Here are the proposed dates:
- August 23rd-25th
- August 30th-September 1st
- September 6th-8th
- September 13th-15th
- October 18th-20th
- October 25th-27th
The first date is the arrival date, and the last date is the departure date. This will give the bloggers a couple nights (and one full day!) of hanging out with one another. If you want to arrive earlier, leave later, show up in the middle of it all, please do.
I’d also like to stress that this is not an exclusive event. People who can attend can include, but are not limited to:
- People who read blogs but don’t write them
- Spouses/significant others
- Friends/family members
- Bloggers from, *gasp*, other blogging platforms
- Your clergyman
- Someone you met on the plane and would like to sleep with
Sometimes it’s nice to have a buddy in these kinds of situations. We really just want to be able to get together and meet our friends from the interwebz face-to-face, and have a good time. No WordPress account is required for that.
Please make sure to leave your preferred dates in the comment section. We’ll give it a week or so, and update all of you with the official Blogger Summit dates. GET EXCITED PARTY PEOPLE.

Because Texas Longhorns football is bigger than any religion in Austin in the fall, I took the liberty of posting a link to the school’s 2013 college football season here. You’ll notice that between the end of August and the beginning of December, the team (and the town) has two weeks open WITHOUT a game, or the additional 80,000 drunk folk sportin’ clothes of the burnt orange variety… AND one of those weeks lines up with all the planets of the Blogger Summmit perfectly… that would be October 18-20.
Then again, if you WANT 80,000 temporary friends, family and/or significant others there to party like it’s 1836 (insider Texas joke)… I’m all in, y’all!!!
